Cheaper versions I'm sure are quite adequate but I chose the Sennheiser primarily for one reason, its base/transmitter unit plugs into a wall outlet and does not operate by battery. The cheaper versions did so that meant that after you were finished viewing, if you didn't get up and turn it off, your batteries would run out quite quickly. After I'm done, I just turn the headset off, put it aside and turn over and snuggle down to sleep...no getting up to turn off the transmitter.
